Our Story
Mountain Waffle Co. began simply, serving sweet and crunchy Liege Belgian waffles at ski resorts around the USA. We started in Steamboat Springs, CO and quickly expanded to ski resorts in 11 states. Our customers loved them, but kept asking for them after the winter season was long gone. That’s when we decided it was time to bring them to everyone all year long in all 50 states, Canada, the Caribbean and throughout the Western Hemisphere. We take great pride in making the highest quality authentic Liege and Galette Belgian waffles in the greatest variety of flavors, sizes and packaging types. Highest Quality
Our authentic Belgian waffle factory is BRC certified as well as both Halal and Kosher certified. Kosher is optional as it requires special ingredients and rabbinic supervision. While our capacity is for over 100 million waffles annually, here’s why our waffles still look and taste as homemade as ever.
Our authentic Liege and Galette Belgian waffles are made from dough and not batter. This makes them more dense and flavorful than batter based Brussels style Belgian waffles.
Brussels style Belgian waffles are made from a dry batter mix to which you typically add water for the liquid and palm oil or margarine for the fat. They can be easily made by anyone anywhere, but can only be eaten warmed up, and cannot be eaten without toppings because they have little to no flavor on their own.
Whereas our authentic Belgian waffles are authentically made only in Belgium and use only the highest quality all natural ingredients like non-GMO wheat flour, rBST free milk and butter, eggs, whole Belgian pearl sugars, yeast, pure maple syrup and Belgium dark chocolate.
Cooking / Preparation
Because our dough based waffles are more dense and flavorful (with delicious flavors already baked in), they may be eaten warm or at room temp and both with or without toppings. And if topped, our dough based waffles support toppings much better than batter based waffles which tend to absorb and get soggy under toppings. This allows our waffles to be eaten for breakfast, lunch, dinner, dessert and all-day snacking.
Our waffles are also easily warmed up on any warming device (regular/toaster/convection oven, toaster, waffle iron or microwave) in 30 seconds or less. This provides fool proof waffles quickly, improves customer satisfaction and turns, and eliminates all special waffle making equipment, labor, waste, time and hassle selling and serving authentic Belgian waffles the Mountain Waffle way!
