Store-bought toffee and caramel are perfect here, so skip making them and spend the time enjoying dessert with family and friends. Granny Smiths are the baker's apple: their tartness holds up to caramel and they keep their shape in the pan.

- The moment
- Fall dessert menu, Sept–Nov
- Why it works for you
- Plates like a scratch dessert from one batch of apples and a 4-minute warm.
- Batch & prep ahead
- Cook the apples in one large batch before service and hold them warm. Portion the toffee bits and caramel at the station so plating takes seconds.
- Hold & reheat
- The waffles arrive fully baked. Warm the waffles on sheet pans at 350°F for 3–4 minutes, a tray at a time, and scoop the ice cream to order.
- Plating
- Waffle in the center, apples over the top, ice cream to the side so it melts slowly. A shallow bowl keeps the syrup on the plate.
